I learned a skilled trade from my Dad and since my teenage years I have worked in the field and became a teacher of my trade and some of my students have done You-Tube shows of my classes, key "Richard King Scraping". Since the 1980's I have consulted with dozens of fortune 500 Companies that led me travel and teach around the world. Before I taught on my own, my Dad and I worked in Iran (1971) and after he retired I continued travel and teach in: Mexico, Canada, Taiwan, China, Japan, UK, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, The Netherlands, Turkey, Greece and Egypt. I have taught my trade on Machine Tool Building to over 30,000 people around the USA and the countries above. The end of 2017 I will teach 3 weeks in Germany and 1 week in UK. My lovely wife Melissa and I have been married for 42 years and we are both thinking of retiring in 2018 and spending the winters on cruise ships and summer at our cabin in Hayward WI. I love to fish with Melissa, my son Alex and my Grand-kids.

School Story

I was thinking of something many never knew....hmmmm One interesting 0 hour Wood Shop class memory was the morning Tom Tripps Dad who was a MPLS Police Detective confronted MR. Mayo the teacher in his office. Mayo was also the wrestling coach, so he was no lightweight. The day before Mayo had swatted Tom's butt with a paddle and he went home and told his dad. The next day MR. Tripp came in and we heard him yell at Mayo as he picked him up and slammed him against the glass door "NO ONE SPANKS MY SON ACCEPT ME". The glass in the door had a crack in it after that, a reminder, no one messed with Tom. LOL.

I also have fond memories of Speech class and the teacher...she was beautiful and as a teenage I did a lot of day dreaming...

One other thing I remember was Gym class and when we did square dancing with the girls classes. I was so shy back then, but loved to swing your partner dose-e-doo. Does anyone remember one assistant Gym Teacher was the Viking Running back Bill Brown? That was cool!

I was wondering will there be a photographer at the reunion? My Son Alex is a professional and does weddings, other get togethers, is a licensed drone photographer too. He said he isn't busy that night. He also said he would do it for nothing but charge for the prints you order. I wasn't sure who to ask, so I am posting it here. Here is his website and facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AlexKingStudios/
http://alexkingstudios.com/ Let me know and who he should contact and I'll pass it on.

I've become quite the story teller. I have several tell me I should write a book. About my life after I turned 20 or so. Might think I'm bragging, but I have become well known or famous from the Industrial Trade I learned from my Dad. I have been teaching it around the globe for over 35 years and write on a few online forums now that I am semi retired. Several of my students have done You Tube shows on my classes I teach. My son is taking over my company or training classes when I decide to live up here in Hayward full time. Something we all have to do is to either forget about all our kid memories and never tell anyone or get together and tell the people we shared those memories with
who care. Sort of sad I guess. My kids told us once that all the drawers of photo's we have will probably be thrown away. My wife said she plans on making albums someday.

I was thinking about the dairy store kitty corner from the 5 and dime was not Oscars..I think Dave Renslow's dad owned that one. He graduated with my brother in 66. Oscars was the dairy store down on 44 th and Abbott I think.

I remember going into the drug store on 43rd and Upton and getting a Coke at the counter and buying 10 cent Nut Goodies...walking done the street to the bakery and smelling the fresh bakes bread, then down to Lipka's meat Market for a raw hot dog. Also going to the dime store next to the street car tracks and running across the street to Oscars or going to the Are Own Hardware store. When I was little my Mom worked at the Café behind the flower shop on the corner across the street from the drug store....so many memories I had hidden away... :-)
